Hide and Watch
Zechariah 12

When I was younger, my friends and I often used the phrase "hide and watch!" It was our way of responding when someone doubted our abilities or claims. For instance, while playing basketball, if I said, "I can make that shot," and someone doubted it, I'd confidently reply, "hide and watch."

In a similar way, some may doubt whether God will fulfill the prophecies mentioned in Zechariah 12. To those skeptics, my response is a resolute "hide and watch!"

The phrase "In that day" in the book of Zechariah, specifically in Zechariah 12, is a common prophetic expression found in many Old Testament prophecies. It typically refers to a future time or an eschatological event when God's divine plan or judgment will be fulfilled. In the context of Zechariah 12, this phrase is used to describe a specific period or moment in the future when certain events will take place.

As we witness the ongoing conflicts in Israel today, here are some thought-provoking points to consider:

Enemies Act Like Drunks Vs. 2

“Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah.

In this current scenario, have you observed how those opposing Israel, both in the Middle East and on the global stage, appear to act without logic in their hostilities? They speak and behave as if under the influence of intoxication.

Hide and watch!

If you try to life Israel, she will give you a hernia. Vs. 3a

It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured.

Those who attempt to harm or hinder Israel will find that it's like lifting a heavy stone – a task that often results in injury to the assailant. Israel's strength is formidable, and her defense is impenetrable. "Don't mess with Israel; you'll hurt yourself trying."

Just hide and watch!

All the nations turn on Israel Vs. 3b

And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.

The current conflicts often see a swift and near-universal turn of nations against Israel. Observe the actions of the United Nations and other international bodies. Even as the U.S. continues to support Israel, watch how quickly the global narrative changes, with calls for Israel to halt actions deemed necessary for its survival.

God will protect Israel Vrs. 4-5

A strong support for us are the inhabitants of Jerusalem through the Lord of hosts, their God.’

The defense and protection of Israel defy conventional explanations. It's a divine intervention that transcends human comprehension. "God will protect Israel; that much is certain.

Hide and watch!

The warrior of Israel will be like David Vrs. 6-9

In that day the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the one who is feeble among them in that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the Lord before them.

In a time when the Lord defends Jerusalem, even the weakest among them will exhibit a strength akin to that of David. The House of David will resemble God's angel. Remember, David faced Goliath in the name of the Lord.

Hide and Watch!

The war in Israel will bring people to Christ Vrs. 10-14

“I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.

The ongoing conflicts in Israel are part of a larger divine plan. It will lead people, both in Israel and Gaza, to a profound encounter with Christ. Hearts will be touched, and lives transformed.
